texturing tests

Color tests: Texturing something with a black background and texturing something in a light and shiny background is very different. The texture that worked ok with black just looked pale in broad daylight, and so he had to be darkened.

Getting back to Texturing was so much fun. If Maya is the big sea and one has to brave all the waves, Photoshop is the familiar and warm swimming pool, of which every corner you are familiar with.
Attempts at wrinkles and scratches. I ended up finding a balance between the two, I think.

Death by Bump-map: Often the eager and over-enthused bump-mapper will get excited by the magics of it. I remember some of the films in last couple of years have been killed by bump-maps. It's all about the subtlety for me. Do it too much and it's just noise.

Basic attempts at modelling the big guy, as well as a basic drawing i did for reference.

The famed Copying Weights, vertex pulling, etc etc. Got it all solved at the end, but it was a real learning process.

Photo reference for blends.
