Ghosting
Ghosting is like onion skin in flash - it displays a transparent image of the frame before and the frame after the one you're working on - or whichever frames you want to ghost.
It's extremely helpful, though not very efficient in Maya. Downloading a ghosting plug-in has been one of the best things that happened to my animation so far.
